(Lansing, MI) – The U.S. Department of Justice sent seven teams of election monitors to Michigan. There were two teams each in Detroit, East Lansing, and Lansing and one team in Hamtramck. President Trump announced the DOJ’s effort earlier this year.
Former Democratic Governor Jim Blanchard, former Democratic Lieutenant Governor John Cherry, former Republican Governor John Engler, and former Republican Michigan Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop formed “The Protect Democracy Project” to remind and reassure voters that local clerks run elections, not the federal government, and the results can be trusted.
