Eight Dead in Suspicious Grand Haven Township House Fire

(GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP)- The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the suspicious deaths of eight people following a house fire Friday morning in Grand Haven Township.  Crews arrived after reports of a smoky smell around 8:30, but found no fire.  Three hours later, authorities returned to the area to investigate white smoke coming from a house in the 14000 block of Riverside Trail.  Firefighters found several victims inside while battling the blaze. Authorities confirmed eight people died, two adults and six children.  The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation with assistance from the Michigan State Police Arson Unit.
