MDHHS: Cyclosporiasis Cases More Than Triple To 572

(Lansing, MI) – The cases of Cyclosporiasis in Michigan have more than tripled in the past week. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says the number of confirmed cases is 572 as of July 4th, up from 170 last Tuesday. Most of the cases are in southeast Michigan in Monroe, Lenawee, Washtenaw, Wayne, Oakland, and Livingston counties. Officials have not yet been able to identify a specific produce type or a produce grower or supplier as the source.

Cyclosporiasis can cause frequent watery diarrhea, loss of appetite, weight loss, abdominal cramps and bloating, a low-grade fever, and nausea.
