Ottawa County, MI (WGHN) – Local governments and public boards across Ottawa County will consider a wide range of planning, development, infrastructure, and community event items during the week of July 6-10, including major redevelopment approvals, public events, and infrastructure-related contracts.
Ferrysburg
The Ferrysburg City Council will meet Monday, July 6, at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 17520 Ridge Ave.
Council members are expected to again review a proposed citywide rezoning plan after delaying action at two prior meetings. Officials will also consider placing three charter amendments on the Nov. 3, 2026, ballot.
Additional items include recognizing former Council Member William Montgomery, who recently resigned after moving out of the city, and discussing the purchase and installation of five automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in city parks.
The Ferrysburg Zoning Board of Appeals is scheduled to meet Thursday, July 9, at 7 p.m.
Grand Haven Township
The Grand Haven Township Planning Commission will meet Monday, July 6, at 6 p.m. at the township offices, 13300 168th Ave.
Commissioners will hold a public hearing on a special land use request for a private vehicle club at 17121 Hayes St., a use not currently permitted under the property’s I-1 Industrial zoning designation.
The commission will also revisit a proposed 40-acre residential development between Robbins Road and Comstock Street after requesting revisions during an earlier review.
Two pre-applications are also scheduled for discussion:
- A proposed Safe Haven Athletic Center, a 50,000-square-foot indoor youth sports facility north of Lincoln Street along 168th Avenue.
- A proposed Lincoln Oakes subdivision, featuring 20 single-family homes on 13 acres north of American Dunes Golf Club.
Grand Haven
The Grand Haven City Council will meet Monday, July 6, at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 519 Washington Ave.
Prior to the regular meeting, council members will hold a special work session at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers featuring a presentation on the city’s urban forestry program from Lawrence Burns, Assistant Director of Urban Forestry.
At the regular meeting, council members will consider multiple items under New Business, including:
- Approval of a Brownfield Plan for the Flatiron redevelopment project at 7 N. 7th Street, extending 19 years. The Economic Development Corporation/Brownfield Redevelopment Authority and city administration both recommend approval.
- A resolution of intent to vacate the eastern portion of the Woodlawn Avenue right-of-way from the end of the improved roadway to Beechtree Street. Administration recommends denial.
- Approval of a 130th Anniversary Celebration hosted by the Grand Haven Board of Light and Power at Lynne Sherwood Waterfront Stadium on Sept. 12, 2026. Administration recommends approval.
- Approval of a beach wrestling tournament request from the West Side Wave Beach Wrestling Club to be held at the city beach on Aug. 15, 2026, with support from the Parks and Recreation Board and administration.
- Approval of an expanded closure request for Walk the Beat, adding the 1500 block of Franklin Avenue on Aug. 8, 2026. Administration recommends approval.
- A task order with HDR for general coordinating and community engagement services for fiscal year 2026/2027, not to exceed $158,944.
- A contract with Trace Analytical Laboratories for CCR groundwater laboratory services at Harbor Island, not to exceed $135,063.68.
- A task order with HDR for public engagement services related to the Remedial Alternative Analysis, not to exceed $77,069.

Spring Lake Village
The Spring Lake Village Downtown Development Authority will meet Thursday, July 9, at noon at Barber School, 102 W. Exchange St.
The village’s Parks and Recreation Committee meeting scheduled for Monday has been canceled.
Ottawa County
Two county boards will meet Thursday, July 9, at the Ottawa County Administration Building, 12220 Fillmore St.
- The Housing Commission will meet at 10 a.m. in the Hickory Conference Room.
- The Veteran Services Committee will meet at 6 p.m. in the Hemlock Conference Room.
