(Cincinnati, OH) – The U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati has ruled against the Trump administration, saying the federal government cannot force Michigan to turn over its complete voter registration database. The decision affirms the dismissal of the federal lawsuit against Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. The federal appeals court says the U.S. Department of Justice did not satisfy procedural requirements under Title Three of the Civil Rights Act before they demanded Michigan turn over its unredacted Qualified Voter File.

Benson supplied the federal government with the public version of the Qualified Voter Filed with personally identifying information removed.
