Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – The Grand Haven Area Community Foundation is investing in efforts to increase access to legal services and youth programming across Northwest Ottawa County through its Spring 2026 Community Impact grant cycle.

The foundation awarded $75,000 to the Immigrant Assistance Center of West Michigan to expand affordable immigration legal services for individuals and families in the region. The funding will support legal representation, outreach, and educational services designed to help residents navigate the immigration system. The organization works in schools, churches, and other community locations while providing multilingual assistance to reduce barriers related to language, cost, and access.

Velo Kids Inc. received a $20,000 grant to expand its Bike School and Learn to Bike programs through the addition of a second mobile Bike Bus. The expanded fleet will allow the organization to bring bicycles, equipment, and instruction directly to more schools and community sites throughout Northwest Ottawa County.

The foundation said both grants are focused on increasing access to opportunity and improving quality of life for local residents. One initiative helps families access legal resources and support, while the other provides children with opportunities to develop confidence, physical activity skills, and social connections through cycling.

The Grand Haven Area Community Foundation has served Northwest Ottawa County since 1971. The organization supports charitable giving, awards grants, provides technical assistance to nonprofits, and works with community leaders on issues affecting the region.
