House Speaker Says A Four-Month Continuing Resolution Possible For Budget

(Lansing, MI) – State House Speaker Matt Hall says if a budget deal can’t be reached with majority Democrats in the Senate and Governor Whitmer’s office, they will try a four-month continuing resolution and work with the next governor and Senate. Hall believes a Republican will win the governor’s office in November and the GOP will also take the majority in the Senate. He says even if Democrats maintain control in the Senate, they will get a better deal for Republicans because Democratic Senator Darrin Camilleri “owes me” after he endorsed the Trenton senator for majority leader next year.

Hall says his party wants to cut at least 800-million-dollars in spending across Medicaid, child care, autism services, underused state office leases, ghost employees, and food assistance.
