Georgetown Twp., MI (WGHN) – A 25-year-old woman was hospitalized with serious injuries following a motorcycle crash Thursday evening on westbound I-196 in Georgetown Township.
According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred shortly after 6 p.m. west of Kenowa Avenue. Investigators said a 39-year-old man towing a rented cargo trailer lost items onto the highway, creating a traffic backup. A 42-year-old man from Walker driving a Chevy Equinox had slowed in the left lane when the motorcyclist collided with the rear of the SUV.
The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet but suffered significant injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
A woman and three children riding in the Equinox were not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
