Ferrysburg, MI (WGHN) – — William Montgomery has stepped down from the Ferrysburg City Council, leaving his position as mayor pro-tem vacant.

Council members accepted Montgomery’s resignation during Monday’s meeting after he informed City Clerk Amber Schaner that he was resigning following a move outside the city limits.

After accepting the resignation, the council selected Bill Cate to serve as the new mayor pro-tem.

City leaders plan to discuss how to fill the vacant council seat during their June 15 meeting.
