Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – Grand Haven City Council voted Monday to change how downtown businesses are billed for the city’s snowmelt system, reducing the financial burden on local business owners.
Mayor Bob Monetza says it was an expensive winter:
The council approved shifting the annual cost-sharing formula from a 75-25 split, where businesses paid the majority of the expense, to an even 50-50 split between the city and downtown businesses.
The decision follows discussions earlier this year when city leaders temporarily paused snowmelt billing. The revised formula is expected to save downtown businesses a combined $36,755.65 this year.
The City also declared June Pride Month:
Grand Haven’s 4th annual Pridefest is June 13th.
