GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Today, Congresswoman Hillary Scholten (D-MI-03), member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, announced the Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR) in Grand Rapids will receive $6,000,000 in federal funding through the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). The funding will support upgrades to the Concourse B terminal building, which will include family-centric security rooms and restrooms, as well as energy efficiency improvements.
“GRR is the gateway to West Michigan and a critical economic anchor of our whole region,” said Congresswoman Scholten. “I’m proud to announce this funding to upgrade and improve Concourse B, which houses four airlines and eight gates, and I look forward to seeing how the project improves the travel experience for millions of passengers each year. As a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I will continue working hard to deliver essential federal investments like this one for West Michigan.”
“As part of the national, once-in-a-generation investment in infrastructure, the bipartisan infrastructure law is helping offset the cost of critical airport improvements for Michigan travelers,” said Tory Richardson, President and CEO of the Gerald R. Ford International Airport Authority. “At Ford International Airport, these federal funds will support upgrades to Concourse B focused on accessibility, energy efficiency, and an exceptional guest experience. We appreciate Congresswoman Scholten’s leadership and the continued federal and state support of aviation in West Michigan.”
Congresswoman Scholten has previously announced $8.6 million and $2.4 million for GRR through the DOT.
