(Grand Bahama, Bahamas) — Authorities in the Bahamas have arrested the husband of the Michigan woman who disappeared after falling off a boat. Brian Hooker met with his attorney, Terrel Butler, in person for the first time at the police station in Grand Bahama Thursday night, where she says he “categorically and unequivocally” denies any wrongdoing.
Police say Hooker was arrested Wednesday after he claimed his wife, 55-year-old Lynette Hooker, fell overboard from their eight-foot dinghy last weekend because of “unpredictable seas” in the Atlantic.
Butler says Brian Hooker claimed he was injured after falling overboard while in police custody and is now requesting medical treatment.
Lynette Hooker’s daughter is questioning that account, saying her mother was a strong swimmer with over ten years of experience sailing and doesn’t understand how she could have fallen overboard and disappeared. The search for Lynette continues as officials work to determine what happened.
