(Grand Rapids, MI) – Low-flying helicopters with strange looking equipment will soon be spotted across West Michigan. The U.S. Geological Survey and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy says the flights are part of a survey which will map out aquifers and geology to better understand the amount of and the movement of groundwater beneath the surface.
From now through the summer, helicopters with large hoop-like horizontal frames will be spotted across the region, including in Allegan, Kalamazoo, Kent, and Ottawa counties.
