Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – If you’re planning a vacation or spring break trip, authorities are reminding residents to avoid posting travel updates on social media while they’re away.
The Grand Haven Department of Public Safety says posting in real time can indicate your home is unoccupied and increase the risk of theft.
Residents are encouraged to wait until they return home to share photos and updates, and to have a trusted neighbor or friend monitor their property. The Retired Senior Volunteer Program also offers vacation house checks.
To sign up, visit the Grand Haven Public Safety in person. Provide your travel dates, emergency contact information, and note anyone who may have access to your home.
