(Detroit, MI) – The FBI says the man who attacked a synagogue in Michigan was inspired by an Iran-backed terrorist group.
In her update Monday on the Temple Israel attack near Detroit on March 12th, FBI agent Jennifer Runyan said the investigation shows the 41-year-old subscribed to Hezbollah’s ideology, and researched local Jewish populations before the attack. The Department of Justice says the man acted on the directions from Hezbollah, and he was no “lone wolf.” Runyan said he smashed through the temple in his truck with 22-hundred dollars worth of fireworks, and 35 gallons of gasoline. He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound during a shoot-out with temple security. No one else was harmed.
