(Washington, DC) – Michigan’s two U.S. senators are asking the National Weather Service why a tornado watch was not in place on March 6th when four tornadoes ripped through the southwest part of the state. Senators Gary Peters and Elissa Slotkin have sent a letter to Weather Service Director Kenneth Graham, asking if “a lack of staff and/or resources” were part of the reasons the NWS didn’t issue a watch.

Tornado warnings were issued for the four twisters that hit Edwardsburg, Three Rivers, Union City, and Clarendon Township, killing four people and destroying dozens of homes.
