(Santa Cruz, CA) – A new study suggests a father’s tobacco use could change the health of his offspring. Researchers from the University of California, Santa Cruz found that when male mice consumed nicotine, their offspring showed changes in how their bodies handled sugar. The results show that a father’s tobacco exposure could increase the chance of his children developing diabetes.

The study notes that reducing smoking could slow the diabetes epidemic.
