(Washington, DC)  –  There’s growing outrage after the attack today on a Michigan synagogue. Democratic Senator Elissa Slotkin of Michigan.
Slotkin whet on to say that everyone has a right to worship.
Fellow Michigan Senator Gary Peters posted his “heart is with the families and everyone affected by the violence at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield.”  Michigan’s Governor Gretchen posted “Michigan’s Jewish community should be able to live and practice their faith in peace.”
Federal investigators say the truck attack on Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan Thursday was a deliberate act of violence targeting the Jewish community. Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard reported that temple security stopped the threat by killing the suspect, and although no children or staff were hurt, one security officer was struck by the truck and is recovering. The crash ignited a fire that sent at least 30 first responders to the hospital for smoke inhalation. The Department of Homeland Security later identified the suspect as Ayman Mohamad Ghazali, a Lebanese-born U.S. citizen who entered the country in 2011. He reportedly posted online about relatives killed in an Israeli strike the night before the attack. Authorities say he drove into the synagogue armed with a rifle before being shot by security, and the FBI has opened a full investigation.
