WASHINGTON, DC — , U.S. Representative Hillary Scholten (D-MI-03) has announced that the Van Andel Institute in Grand Rapids will receive $555,128 in federal support through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The funding will support cutting-edge clinical research related to neurological disorders, specifically frontotemporal degeneration (FTD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
“I’m pleased to announce this well-deserved funding for Van Andel Institute, which will support important research into neurological disorders and how to better diagnose, treat, and ultimately prevent them,” said Rep. Scholten. “This project will advance our understanding of diseases that affect millions of families and help ensure every West Michigander has access to the specialized health care services they need. Van Andel Institute is truly making Grand Rapids proud, and as your Representative, I will always support the researchers and clinicians in West Michigan at the forefront of medical discovery.”
This funding reflects Rep. Scholten’s ongoing work to bring federal investment back to Michigan’s Third Congressional District and strengthen the region’s health care infrastructure.
