(Grand Rapids, MI) – Longtime west Michigan TV meteorologist Terri DeBoer is running as a Republican for the 3rd District U.S. House seat in the Grand Rapids area. DeBoer filed the paperwork to be a candidate challenging incumbent Democratic Congresswoman Hillary Scholten this week and says she wants to focus on border security and restoring “fiscal sanity” to Washington, DC. She says she became interested in politics when she was a senior in high school and President Reagan spoke to her class.
Scholten is in her second term and is the first Democrat to represent the Grand Rapids area since the 1970s.
