Gretchen Whitmer Delivers Her Final State Of The State

(Lansing, MI)  —  Governor Gretchen Whitmer delivered her eighth and final State of the State address last night, reflecting on her legacy and the issues Michigan is still facing.  She put a focus for part of the speech on improving literacy among children.
 The Democrat got a standing ovation from Republicans when she talked about signing a cellphone ban for all K-12 public schools and gave credit to President Donald Trump for committing a new fighter mission for Selfridge Air National Guard Base.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer reflected on her time as a state lawmaker.
Whitmer called for political unity and had a human and relatable tone during her 48-minute speech.  She focused her speech on housing affordability, healthcare costs, and improving literacy.
