Ottawa County, MI (WGHN) – A Zeeland woman was killed and her husband critically injured in a crash involving a semi truck in Ottawa County. The collision happened around 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, February 17th at Port Sheldon Street and 72nd Avenue.
Deputies said a semi hauling a trailer was headed north when it failed to stop at the intersection and struck an eastbound pickup.
Fifty-nine-year-old Toni Laws was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband, 56-year-old David Laws, was driving. He had to be extricated from the truck and was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he remains recovering.
The semi driver, a man from Kentucky, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation, and the intersection was closed for several hours following the collision.
