(Lansing, MI) – Michigan House Speaker Matt Hall is issuing a warning shot on the Fiscal Year 2027 budget, saying the House will not approve any tax increases. The Richland Republican says he wants to reduce the state’s six mill property taxes and save average property owners around 900-dollars a year. Hall says their plan would also require utilities to lower their rates by a combined one-billion-dollars.
He also wants to eliminate the state education tax on property, pop-up and real estate transfer taxes, and says that would eliminate four-billion-dollars in revenue the state currently receives.
