(Grand Rapids, MI) – Grand Rapids will set a record at the end of 2025 with over 949-million-dollars in permitted construction work. That will break last year’s record of 728-million. City officials say projects like Amway Stadium, the Acrisure Amphitheatre, and the Joan Secchia Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital are driving much of the growth along with increased costs for labor and material. City Manager Mark Washington says the city has had five straight years of growth in construction value and calls that “a healthy sign for our economy.” Grand Rapids has also made major improvements to inspection turnaround times, with electrical inspections being done within three days of a request.
That is despite a national shortage of certified electrical inspectors.
