(Ann Arbor, MI) – Former University of Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore was taken to the Washtenaw County Jail last night, hours after the school dismissed him for violating university policy. Pittsfield Township police say they responded to a home for an alleged assault, and investigators later confirmed a suspect was taken into custody, though charges have not been announced. ESPN reported that Moore was first detained in Saline before being turned over to Pittsfield Township authorities as part of the ongoing case.
The university appointed Biff Poggi as interim head coach as the Wolverines prepare for their New Year’s Eve bowl matchup.
