(Cedar Springs, MI) — Police are investigating whether or not a Cedar Springs mother who admitted to killing her daughter is also responsible for the girl’s brother’s death. When Leo Whitehead died in September 2021, investigators ruled he died by natural causes. Now, more than a week after Irene Whitehead was arraigned for the murder of her two-year-old daughter Ryleigh, police are looking into the similar patterns in the two children’s deaths.
Kent County Sheriff Michele LaJoye-Young says investigators believe there is probable cause to charge Irene Whitehead with the boy’s murder.
