Two Dead, Three Injured in Muskegon Home Shooting; Person of Interest Detained

MUSKEGON, Mich. — A person of interest is in custody reports TV 13 on your Side following a shooting that left two people dead and three others injured in Muskegon on Saturday, according to the Muskegon Police Department.

Police reported that around 3:15 p.m., several individuals entered a home in the 600 block of Jackson Avenue. Preliminary information indicates that the people inside the home were likely familiar with those who entered. An altercation took place inside the residence, leading to gunfire. Investigators believe the incident may have been related to a robbery.

Joshua Foundren Jr., 25, was shot multiple times and died at the scene. Cori Marie-May Watts, 22, was also shot multiple times and was taken to a hospital, where she later died. Friends and family described her as a kind, social, and selfless woman who cared deeply for others, including children.

Two additional men, both 25 years old, were transported to a hospital and remain in critical condition based on the most recent information. A 4-year-old child in the home sustained a graze wound and is expected to fully recover.

Investigators have identified and detained a person of interest, but no further details have been released. MPD stated that the investigation remains active and that they are working with local, state, and federal partners to identify everyone responsible and bring closure to the community.

Muskegon Mayor Ken Johnson said more information will be shared as the investigation progresses and encouraged the community to support the victims, their families, neighbors, and first responders during this difficult time.
