(Grand Rapids, MI) – The ramp from westbound Interstate 196 to southbound US-131 in downtown Grand Rapids is closed due to a semi crash around 11 a.m. yesterday. The truck was hauling around 140-thousand pounds of pea gravel when the driver was southbound on US-131 and lost control, getting partially wedged under the ramp structure. It took Michigan State Police about an hour to get the driver out, and they suffered minor injuries.
The ramp will remain closed until the Michigan Department of Transportation does a full structural inspection.
