(Washington, DC) – The last supermoon of 2025 will rise Thursday night. The December full moon is called the Cold Moon in the Northern Hemisphere, and may look larger than usual as the lunar orbit swings relatively closer to Earth. NASA says the moon will be just a mere 221-thousand miles from Earth on Thursday night. The Geminid Meteor Shower is also due to start this week, but is not expected to peak until mid-December.

That’s when NASA says up to 120 meteors will be visible per hour on a clear night sky.
