MSU Fires Head Football Coach, Replacement Announced

(East Lansing, MI) – Michigan State is moving on from Johnathan Smith. The school fired their now former head coach yesterday after going just one and eight in Big Ten conference play this season. Just hours after firing Smith, it was reported that the Spartans would be hiring Pat Fitzgerald to take over as head coach.

Fitzgerald last coached at Northwestern from 2006 through 2022.
