(Lansing, MI) – Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has filed a motion trying to stop the continued operation of the Consumers Energy’s J.H. Campbell coal-fired power plant in West Olive. The U.S. Department of Energy has issued a third order to stop the retirement of the plant. Nessel says the DOE’s order is based on an outdated reliability assessment report that was used to create an emergency.
The federal government’s order will force Consumers Energy to keep the plant operating until February 19 despite its planned retirement that was approved by the Michigan Public Service Commission.
