Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – It’s Holiday Cheer from Pure Michigan’s Nick Nerbonne.

Hear the interview below.

This weekend The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will pass directly through parts of Ohio, Michigan and Indiana on Saturday, November 22nd into early Sunday, November 23rd. While there are *no stops* or performances scheduled on this trip from Detroit to Chicago, the train will pass through dozens of communities with brilliant holiday cheer.

The train is expected into Windsor, Ontario on Saturday, November 22nd between 5:00 to 5:30 pm where the stop will feature performers Smash Mouth and JJ Wilde. From there the CPKC Holiday Train will cross into the United States and have to clear customs Saturday evening in Detroit. The times below are just ESTIMATED times on when the CPKC may be passing through and can vary significantly as past years have shown based on customs and other factors. There will be a Holiday Train tracker LIVE once the program is underway, so I will share more as I know this weekend.
The tour across Canada and the U.S. will run from November 19th to December 21st. For many this is worth the sight, even in the middle of the night. It goes without saying, be safe and stay away from the tracks and observe at a safe distance!
The first concert at the Acrisure Amphitheater will be Motown legend Lionel Richie on Friday, May 15th.  Brian Vander Ark, the lead singer of the Verve Pipe, will be the first artist to take the stage as he opens the show, followed by country duo The War and Treaty and then Richie.  Vander Ark grew up in west Michigan and says he remembers needing to drive to Kalamazoo or Muskegon to see almost any concert when he was younger.  Ten concerts have been announced for the new amphitheater, which is still under construction just south of the US-131 S-curve.
The White House Christmas tree has been harvested from Korson’s Tree Farms in Sidney Township.  The tree will be displayed in the Blue Room of the White House.  It is the first time a tree from Michigan has been chosen to be the official White House Christmas tree since 1984.  Korson’s Tree Farms was chosen for the honor after entering a National Christmas Tree Association competition.  Co-owner Rex Korson says it was the sixth time they competed in the national contest and they provided a tree for the home of Vice President Joe Biden in 2015.
The Christkindl Markt in Grand Rapids is now open.  More than 60 vendors are filling the stalls in the Grand Rapids Downtown Market.  The market is open Wednesdays through Sundays from today through December 23rd.  Live oompah bands will play every Thursday night in the market’s drink hall, and Santa Claus will be available for kids every Wednesday night.
