Blendon Twp., MI (WGHN) – A 54-year-old Allendale man died Friday just before 4:00 p.m. after a semi-truck hit him while he was riding his bicycle in Blendon Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred around 4 p.m. at 72nd Avenue and Barry Street. Deputies say the cyclist was heading south on 72nd Avenue and began turning left onto Barry Street just as a southbound 1995 Ford semi-truck attempted to pass him. The truck struck the bicyclist during the turn.
The man died from his injuries. The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the crash.
