(Saline Township, MI)  —  A proposed multi-billion-dollar AI data center in Saline Township is getting plenty of pushback from residents.  Josh Lebaron and Kathryn Haushalter are among those who spoke out against it last night at the township board meeting.
Governor Whitmer announced the project late last month as the largest economic project ever in the state and it is backed by ChatGPT maker OpenAI along with Oracle and Stephen Ross.  Saline Township board members told a large crowd at last night’s board meeting that they were not given a choice in the data center, and township attorney Fred Lucas says they were sued by the developers and landowners after they rejected rezoning the land for the development in September.  Residents packed the township board meeting last night to offer their outrage at the development.
Saline Township attorney Fred Lucas says they did not have a choice in the data center, and says they were sued in September after they voted down rezoning the land.
