(Lansing, MI) — The conditions of roads and bridges statewide are up for the fourth straight two-year period according to a report from the Transportation Asset Management Council. Of the roads eligible for federal aid in 2024, 28-percent are in good condition, 40-percent are in fair condition, and 32-percent are in poor condition. For non-federal aid eligible roads, 21-percent are in good condition, 36-percent are fair, and 43-percent are in poor condition.
Ninety-two-percent of the bridges controlled by the Michigan Department of Transportation are in good or fair condition, just over five-percent are in poor condition, and less than one-percent are in severe condition.
