(Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – Sarah Kallio and Erin Lyon have won seats on the Grand Haven City Council in Tuesday’s general election, finishing ahead of Dennis Scott. Kallio received 2,055 votes (38.11%), while Lyon earned 1,993 votes (36.96%). Scott received 1,344 votes (24.93%).
In the mayoral race, incumbent Bob Monetza was re-elected while running unopposed, receiving 2,491 votes. Mike Dora, also unopposed, was elected to the partial City Council term ending in 2027 with 2,255 votes.
On the Grand Haven Board of Light and Power, Todd Crum (2,194 votes) and Phillip Polyak (2,133 votes) were elected to trustee positions. Polyak will serve a partial term ending in 2027.
Ferrysburg Mayor Richard Carlson secured another two-year term in Tuesday’s election, receiving 1,835 votes (58.4%) to challenger Jerry Sias’ 1,305 votes (41.6%). Results remain unofficial until certified.
Sias will continue serving on City Council, where his current term runs through 2027.
In the race for three City Council seats, David Cook received 622 votes (34.5%), Debbie Murdoch received 600 votes (33.2%), and Bill Cate received 582 votes (32%), securing those positions. Write-in candidate Tim O’Donnell received 130 votes, not enough to change the outcome.
