Grand Haven Twp, MI (WGHN) – More manufacturing job losses are on the horizon in West Michigan. A longtime Grand Haven Township plant is shutting down. NPR of America Inc., located near U.S. 31 and M-45, has announced it will close its doors permanently by February 2027. That’s according to an email sent Friday by Township Manager Bill Cargo.
FOX 17 reports that the closure will eliminate about 64 jobs—50 of them before December 23 of this year. The company, a subsidiary of Nippon Piston Ring Co. out of Japan, manufactures internal combustion engine parts, mainly piston rings for the auto and equipment industries.
As part of the process, NPR of America has filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification—or WARN—letter with the state. Once the Grand Haven plant closes, the company will have just one remaining U.S. factory in Bardstown, Kentucky, and a separate office in Novi, Michigan. It’s unclear whether the Novi location will be affected.
This move adds to a growing list of manufacturing closures across West Michigan.
