(Undated) – Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer is demanding that Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. declare a nationwide emergency over rising measles cases. In a July 11th letter, Schumer wrote, “You have walked our country into the nation’s largest measles outbreak in 33 years.” According to the CDC, measles cases have spiked this year with over 12-hundred confirmed cases in 39 states that have resulted in three deaths.
The majority of cases are in unvaccinated people.
