(Washington, DC) – President Donald Trump is responding to U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin’s bill that would require Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers to identify themselves and not wear masks during enforcement operations. Trump says the freshman senator and co-sponsors Senator Alex Padilla of California and Cory Booker of New Jersey “wouldn’t be saying that if they didn’t hate our country, and they obviously do” in an appearance on Fox News. Slotkin says the law enforcement agents have been making arrests “that look more like kidnappings in an authoritarian country.”
The bill would apply to ICE officers, Customs and Border Protection, and immigration enforcement officers in the Department of Homeland Security.
