(Grand Rapids, MI) – A family from Wayland is thankful to be back together after crowds started running over the Blue Bridge in downtown Grand Rapids Saturday night after the city’s fireworks show. Symantha Bordeau was with her family, introducing her three-month-old daughter to the tradition when she saw the crowd running toward her and she took off with the baby in her arms.

She was able to use the phone of a mother and her son who stopped to see if she was okay and she called the phone she had left behind and a young man brought it to her. Bordeau says if she would have stayed where they were, she would have put herself and her daughter at risk of being hurt.

Symantha Bordeau says she was terrified when she saw the crowd running toward her after the Grand Rapids fireworks.
