(Grand Rapids, MI) – The Kent County Health Department has confirmed a second case of measles this year. A young child had recently traveled outside of the U.S. and tested positive for the disease. One public exposure site has been identified by the health department, with that being the emergency room at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. The child was in a public area of the hospital from 11:38 p.m. Friday, June 27th until 12:06 a.m. June 28th, and anyone who was there at that time needs to check for symptoms through July 19th.
There have been 17 confirmed measles cases in Michigan in 2025.
