By Mary Ellen Murphy Jul 3, 2025 | 5:34 AM

(Ionia County, MI) – Michigan State Police are urging drivers to pay attention following a construction zone crash Monday in Ionia County that killed two people. Lieutenant Michelle Robinson says they will have extra troopers on patrol through the July Fourth weekend and says people need to be aware of their surroundings. She added a lot of crashes could be avoided and the Michigan Department of Transportation has plenty of signage up leading into a construction zone. Robinson says people need to allow other drivers room, maintain the speed limit, and never drive impaired.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be suspending work and lifting some traffic restrictions aiming to ease congestion. 61% of its road and bridge projects statewide will be paused until July 7 at 6 a.m.
