GRAND HAVEN, MI – Grand Haven Area Public Schools is proud to announce the hiring of Cortney Naber as the new Assistant Principal at Lakeshore Middle School. Naber will serve alongside newly appointed Principal Brad Cusumano, forming a strong leadership team dedicated to student-centered growth and staff support.
Naber, a current GHAPS Behavior Coach, brings more than 15 years of experience as a teacher, coach, and educational leader. She has worked in a variety of K–12 roles across general education, alternative education, and athletics, and recently served as a member of the GHAPS Strategic Plan Working Group.
“I’m incredibly excited for the opportunity to positively influence students during such a formative time in their lives,” said Naber. “Middle school is a pivotal stage where students are discovering who they are, and I’m eager to support them — academically, socially, and emotionally — while working with a dedicated team to build a thriving school culture.”
Superintendent Kristin Perkowski shared her enthusiasm about the appointment:
“Cortney is a passionate, thoughtful, and systems-minded leader who brings both experience and heart to everything she does. Her understanding of the district’s vision and her deep investment in our students make her an outstanding fit for this role.”
Principal Brad Cusumano added, “Cortney’s leadership and relational strengths make her a natural partner in this next chapter for Lakeshore. I’m looking forward to working together to foster an inclusive, engaging, and supportive environment for students and staff alike.”
Naber holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University, where she was a standout student-athlete and NCAA National Champion in volleyball.
