(Lansing, MI) – The majority Republicans in the Michigan House are proposing to increase per-pupil funding in public schools. However, they want to pay for that by reducing free breakfast and lunch programs that have been in place for the past two years at every public school in Michigan. Representative Bryan Posthumus says their legislation increases per-pupil funding by two-thousand-392-dollars and school districts that feel the free meals are beneficial can continue offering those.
The legislation needs Democratic support in the state Senate to pass.
