(Washington, DC) – Reaction to the U.S. bombing three Iranian nuclear sites from elected officials from Michigan is split along party lines. Republican members of the U.S. House praised the action, with Congressman Jack Bergman of Watersmeet saying President Trump “sent a clear message to the world about what peace through strength truly means” and Congresswoman Lisa McClain of Bruce Township adding the bombings will make the world safer. Democratic U.S. Senators Elissa Slotkin and Gary Peters were both critical, with Slotkin noting Trump took action without the approval of Congress and Peters says “the consequences rest squarely on his shoulders.”
Slotkin warns the strike could have major safety and stability repercussions across the Middle East.
