(Grand Rapids, MI) – Several West Michigan communities are being awarded grants to help get rid of old scrap tires. More than 130-thousand-dollars will come to the area through grants provided by a Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy grant program. The goal is cleanup tires off of properties and to host events throughout communities which will allow for the tires to be recycled and used for things such as roadwork and for playgrounds.
Those included in the grants include Calhoun, Kent, Montcalm, Newaygo, and Ottawa counties.
