(Grand Rapids, MI) — Community leaders are reacting to the news that a federal judge has dismissed the murder case of former MSP sergeant Brian Keely. Kent County Commissioner Robert Womack is calling the move unacceptable and a slap in the face to the family of Samuel Sterling.
Keely had been charged with murder after video seemed to show his unmarked police cruiser running down Sterling in April of last year. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel says the outcome is nothing short of a miscarriage of justice and her department is considering potential next steps.
