(Ottawa County, MI) – A West Michigan library that had to shut down for weeks after most of its staff walked off the job is opening back up. The Patmos Library will opened its doors Tuesday for the first time since May 12th, when it shuttered after a majority of its staff resigned. At least one former staff member pointed to micro-management as a reason for the departures. The Patmos Library has been through controversy before.
It was twice defunded by voters in 2022 due to controversies around LGBTQ books and other works that were in the library’s young adult section. A property tax the following year restored funding.
