(Lansing, MI) – Governor Whitmer is asking for federal help in the recovery from an ice storm that impacted 12 counties in northern Michigan in March. Michigan State Police and FEMA did preliminary damage assessments and found homeowners were mostly worried about cleaning up the mess without going bankrupt. They agreed on a damage estimate of 137 million dollars, which is the largest ever for northern Michigan.
The decision on the federal relief will be up to President Trump.
