Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – Grand Haven’s Board of Light and Power has been working since 10:00 p.m. Thursday evening preparing for the storms.
Crews came back to the shop this morning for an assessment and coordination meeting and to also refuel with some food. They had linemen, tree crew, and electrical technicians deployed as early as 8:30 pm yesterday and they worked all through the night.
General Manager Rob Shelley made time to stop into the WGHN studios. Hear the interview below:
Mutual aid has been requested and the Zeeland Board of Public Works has graciously answered the call. They will be sending a crew to Grand Haven shortly. They are going to reach out to other utilities that have the capacity to send crews just so we can alleviate the pressure on their guys who have been working almost almost 12 hours now.
It’s important that they restore your power, but it is just as important that restoration efforts are made with the safety of our utility workers in mind. As crews get tired, it’s critical to provide them with some much-needed relief.
